About The Technology:
The Decompress-X ™ chair is a breakthrough advancement in seating technology that combines the medical benefits of spinal decompression with cutting edge design unlike any other product currently available.
The Problem: Lower back pain as a result of prolonged sitting required in the age of sedentary workers has become a fundamental issue in modern society, and studies show it is only getting worse. Scientific journals reveal that back pain has increased exponentially over the recent years; indicating 80% of the population eventually experiences back pain, with 10% experiencing chronic lower back pain conditions. This has created in a $100 billion-a-year industry with back pain being recognized as the top disability in the US workforce. '¹'
The Cause: Human anatomy is the weakest link in back pain, where the majority of the upper body weight is unequally distributed and forced upon the lower vertebrae and spinal discs. Repetitive motion of this excessive weight over the course of time has resulted in devastating health consequences on the global scale, where the number of spinal surgeries performed every year has increased 600% between 1993 and 2011, jumping from 61,000 annual procedures to more than 465,000. It's becoming more evident and widely accepted that sedentary work while seated is contributing to this large increase in adverse health conditions. '²'
The Solution: The patent pending Decompress-X ™ technology gently lifts the torso from the pelvis to maintain good posture and achieve spinal decompression while in a comfortable, upright seating position. This alleviates a variety of spinal issues ranging from lumbar stenosis, degenerative disc disease, spondylothesis, scoliosis, etc. while still allowing the user to maintain an upright working position. The chair also moves organically with the body while the user motions forwards or backwards during the course of their seated work. There is currently no other chair on the market that allows the user to reduce spinal pressure while maintaining an upright and active working posture.

About The Inventor
My name is Brice Hamilton and I am the Founder of the patent pending Decompress-X ™ Chair Technology. At a young age I was diagnosed with a rare spinal condition called Bertolotti's Syndrome and have spent the better part of my life pursuing the treatment and management of this painful condition.
This long road culminated in undergoing a serious back surgery with a variety of spinal instrumentation (titanium rods, screws, bone grafting, etc) in the year of 2022.
Prior to my condition progressing to the point of requiring surgery, I was an aspiring concert pianist and student who graduated from the University of South Florida with a B.S. in 2019. In an attempt to live the most active and healthy lifestyle possible, I forgoed having surgery until it seemed there was no other option. However, this came at the cost of abandoning my aspirations and career as a concert pianist when I could no longer sit for prolonged periods without excruciating pain.
I was amazed when looking for alternative seating options at the lack of variety available on the market. While they're are plenty of fanciful designs with cool looking lumbar support and cushion detail, none of them (even the most expensive on the market) achieved releasing weight off the lower spine while seated in an upright, working position. This led me to conceive my vision an advanced chair that would achieve what no other chair has before. After spending hundreds of hours researching in the field of ergonomics, it became clear there was nothing else available on the market similar to my vision -- to achieve lumbar spinal decompression while maintaining a comfortable, upright seating position that is demanded in almost every field and occupation.
While the field of ergonomics has made steady advancements with the advent of high-end executive office seating, saddle-stools, and standing desks, and even zero-gravity workstations -- they have missed a fundamental part of the equation of why people are experiencing chronic lower back pain in increasing and record numbers. The majority of people experience issues at the lower vertebrae in the back L4/L5 and S1 disc levels due to the disproportionate weight from the upper torso (the majority of body mass) weighing on one small area for a prolonged duration -- I am here to solve this part of the equation. While the 'zero-gravity' chairs are a great step to achieving a release of weight from the spine, they are usually unsuitable for a working environment. Even when these systems are combined with a workstation, they don't account for the simple fundamental the human body requires: MOVEMENT
You will find my product is a high-end, aesthetically pleasing chair that has even more function than only its handsome appearance. Whether used at home, in the office, or even at the concert hall it will be a symbol of advancement in a field that deserves much more attention. My goal is to not only create a functioning medical device, but to also bring advancement that will propel chair design into the 21st century of modern architecture and technology, a niche market that has been quietly begging for attention far too long.
